05/10/2023

October 4, 2023 was an intense and fruitful day for the University of Turin (UniTO) delegation in Belo Horizonte, Brazil: Butterfly Area actively participated in the events that marked this “mineira” day, helping to forge new collaborations with FAPEMIG, the funding agency for research and innovation projects of the State of Minas Gerais.

The agreement signed between UniTO and FAPEMIG represents an important step in a larger project involving the State of Minas Gerais and the Piedmont Region. This partnership is expected to take shape in May 2024 with the visit of an institutional and business delegation from Minas Gerais to Turin, opening new opportunities for collaboration.

The signing ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including the Consul of Italy, Nicoletta Gomiero, and the Superintendent of the State Department of Science, Technology and Innovation of Minas Gerais, Lucas Mendes de Faria Rosa Soares. This agreement is of great importance as it will pave the way for the funding of shared projects, including the mobility of doctoral students and researchers between the two regions.

The morning was enriched by a lecture by Dr. Simona Grande, a researcher from the Department of Management at the University of Turin, who presented an interesting talk on the topic of circular and green economy. Her presentation aroused great interest and stimulated fruitful discussion.

In the afternoon, work continued in the FAPEMIG meeting room, where presentations were given by UniTO, State Universities and Technology Parks. The presence of Italian professors residing and working in Minas Gerais was numerous, demonstrating enthusiasm for the meeting with the UniTO delegation.

With this spirit of collaboration and knowledge exchange, Butterfly Area’s commitment to promote further initiatives that strengthen ties between Italy and Brazil in the field of research and innovation continues.
